Home Insurance - Buildings & Contents

What is Home Insurance?

Home Insurance is the umbrella term for Buildings & Contents insurance. Buildings insurance protects the structure, fixtures & fittings of your property, whilst contents insurance protects your belongings.

You can tailor your home insurance policy to accommodate your specific requirements be that accidental damage to your home or belongings, day-to-day or valuable items carried away from the home, legal expenses or home emergencies.

Why is Home Insurance important?

At the point of exchange, you must ensure that you have a minimum of Buildings Insurance in place as stated within your Mortgage offer. With that in mind, it is essential that you have a home insurance policy that fits your circumstances and is there for you should you ever need to make a claim. If you find you are underinsured or are unwittingly in a flood risk area, you may find that in the event of a serious claim your policy is void. It is therefore vital that you know you have a quality policy which will give you the level of cover you require.

Who needs Home Insurance?
  • Homeowners - You are responsible for both the Buildings & Contents whether you have a mortgage or own the home outright.
  • Tenant - You are responsible for your own belongings whilst the Landlord insures the building.
